What do you get when you put together water balloons, fire, loads of food, late night singing, and small amounts of sleep? Sports Academy Bush Camp!

Together with Paradise Adventures, Sports Academy put on 2 Bush Camps. One at the end of March for our Under 15 teams, and the other at the end of April for our Under 17 players.

During the camps, every activity followed the theme of the Golden Rule – ‘Do to others as you would have them do to you.’ Each student was challenged to think about how they treat others. During one activity the teams scored the other team on a scale of 1-10. However, they were actually scoring themselves. The points they gave (or didn’t give) to another team, proved to be the points they were giving to themselves.

Paradise Adventures took the students on different adventure activites. The younger students faced their fears and abseiled down a cliff for the first time. They took the older players on a 3 hour coasteering journey that challenged each of them physically. There were also several games that encouraged team building and required problem solving skills. It was exciting to see leaders emerge during each of these challenges.

Thank you to the amazing Sports Academy staff and volunteers for putting together the multiple team building activities, camp fire games, and food preparation; and especially to Laura for making all of those delicious marshmallow snowballs! Sports Academy George is very grateful to Paradise Adventures for helping to make these camps successful and look forward to more collaboration in the future.
